How we help

Every step of the way

The Learning and Skills Council supports businesses like yours.

We can help you become more productive, innovative and competitive by boosting skill levels in the workforce.

We manage Apprenticeships nationally through our network of regional offices and learning providers. And we can advise you about the other ways that you can develop and train your workforce.

Large businesses are supported by our National Employer Service which can put you in touch with a suitable learning provider, work with you to customise your existing training programme, or help you to develop a new one.

Please note that the Learning and Skills Council only operates in England.

Learning provider's role

Throughout the Apprenticeship a learning provider will be able to support and guide you. They will work with you to:
  • agree a training plan with your apprentice;
  • recruit an apprentice or support your existing staff onto Apprenticeships;
  • manage the assessments;
  • ensure national quality standards are met; and
  • deliver integrated, coherent training

'Apprenticeships benefit McPhillips in a number of ways. We gain qualified employees who not only have the industry skills we need but that are also used to our way of working. We find our trainees stay with us when they qualify, which means we are recruiting and up-skilling efficiently.'
