Employment responsibilities and rights

The Secretary of State requires each Apprenticeship to incorporate material covering:

  • the rights and responsibilities of workers (including equal opportunities and health and safety)
  • the organisation, disciplines and representative structures of the industries concerned
  • the impact on the sector of public law and policies

The term “employment rights and responsibilities (ERR)” is used to describe this content area.

The water industry has agreed that ERR will be covered in the induction within this Apprenticeship.   EU Skills has produced an ERR workbook designed to reinforce the knowledge gained in induction, but also to ensure that all Apprentices cover a minimum level of ERR since the induction process will vary by employer.

ERR is not assessed, but completion must be evidenced through submission of a sign off sheet (an annex to the workbook) at the point of certification.  The ERR workbook is available to download from www.euskills.co.uk.

These ERR components meet the national minimum requirements.
