Health and Social Care Apprenticeship - Health, Care and Public Services

An apprentice working in health and social care will assist senior care workers and social workers to provide care services.

Health is a large and complex sector of the economy with a wide range of both employers and occupations.

The workforce of two million people can be split into four broad categories: 46 per cent are clinical practitioners and scientists; 30 per cent work in clinical and technical support; 20 per cent in management and administration; and 4 per cent in estates and maintenance roles.

The Skills Council for this sector is Skills for Health, which represents the four UK health departments and has close working relationships with similar bodies working in related sectors e.g. social care.
