As a member of staff in an estate agency or residential property letting and management agency, you will deal with enquiries by prospective buyers or tenants, provide a professional image and secure appointments. You will need to work alone or as part of a team.

There are a number of companies specialising in this part of industry. These include Rentokil Initial, MITIE Group, OCS, ISS and CIRCO. The growth in this industry means that more of the bigger companies are looking to merging their businesses.

The Skills Councils for this sector is Asset Skills, which covers property, housing, cleaning and facilities management. This includes all businesses and people involved in the maintenance and development of the built environment for the benefit of employers, individuals, residents and communities.

The sector lies firmly at the heart of the interface between people and the built environment.
The sector includes certain surveyors, property managers, residential estate agents, caretakers, facilities management professionals, cleaners, town planners, letting agents and housing managers.
