Apprentices may specialise in customer service, administration, or providing financial advice. To work in financial services, you need to have good numeracy, communication and information technology skills.

There are a wide range of businesses in this sector, including Independent Financial Advisers working by themselves to global companies with lots of employees.

The Skills Council for the Financial Services industry is the Financial Services Skills Council, which covers a massive range of business.

These include banks, retail and wholesale, building societies, leasing, investment and unit trusts and venture capital, life insurance, non-life insurance, insurance brokers, administration of financial markets, pension funding, Independent Financial Advisers, unit trust companies.
