Advanced apprentice
Amy Bennington
Amy Bennington from Harborne, Birmingham started a nursing degree before switching to her Advanced Apprenticeship in Community Justice, on the Drug and Alcohol pathway with Midlands Police.
Amy Bennington commented on her Apprenticeship:
“I have been carrying out my role as an Advanced Apprentice for six months now, and have learnt initial skills in communicating with clients and the effects of drugs, from a physical, social, mental and economic perspective.”
After leaving university, Amy spent a great deal of time looking into different career paths. She eventually came across an advert for this role and decided to apply as it was something she was very passionate about.
Amy is currently studying towards her NVQ and has become increasingly interested in the subject of drug treatment and the issues that surround drug use. She has taken up courses outside of work time in order to strengthen her chances of getting a job in a related field when her Apprenticeship is over, and is currently spending much of her time visiting other organisations in order to gain a better knowledge of treatment options within the West Midlands area.
