Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) is proud to co-sponsor this year’s Personal Achiever Award alongside the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills.
This year’s personal achievers have overcome barriers to fulfil their potential and our job is to make sure all young people can follow in their footsteps. That’s why we’re ensuring apprenticeships are one of the main options for 16 to 18 year olds. Apprenticeships offer young people the opportunity to stay in learning, acquire skills and find rewarding work.
By the end of the decade we envisage one in five young people will follow in the footsteps of this year’s ‘personal achievers’ and successful young apprentices.

DIUS is proud to be the co-sponsor with the Department for Children, Schools and Families of this year's Personal Achiever Award – recognising apprentices who have overcome real obstacles to achieve their goals.
Apprenticeships are crucial to unlocking talent in our society. They give companies the chance to train and retain skilled employees. Under new plans, we're making apprenticeships a mainstream option for young people and creating many more places for older learners.
Our ambition is for 250,000 people a year to start an apprenticeship by 2020 – and prepare for a lifetime of personal success and fulfilment.
