Apprenticeship Awards 2007

Sponsors

Openreach has chosen to sponsor a category award to demonstrate its full commitment to the LSC and the Apprenticeship scheme. Backing up this commitment by increasing next year’s intake in Openreach alone to 400, making a total of 610 across BT.

The challenge of developing highly motivated and capable individuals, giving them the opportunity and encouragement to achieve their full potential, and in partnership with the LSC and our training provider Accenture Learning, is a challenge we in Openreach accept, as it is right for our business and the apprentice.

Openreach, a BT Group business, ensures that all service providers have transparent and equal access to the nationwide local BT network - the "first mile" of wire that connects homes and businesses to BT exchanges across the UK.

BT returned to the Apprenticeship field in 1997 and have continually expanded and improved the programmes since then to our current level of 720 apprentices in learning.

The Openreach Advanced scheme enables the apprentice to learn how to design, build, maintain and repair our digital networks, complete an NVQ in Telecommunications at Level 3, achieve a BTEC National Award and take advantage of the many personal and technical skill development opportunities available. The further expansion of our scheme offering 400 new places next year, will include a number of Higher Apprenticeships.
