Beere Electrical Services Ltd

Beere Electrical Services believes that training apprentices is the best way to achieve a reliable workforce. The Camberley-based electrical contractor currently employs 9 members of staff, one third of whom are apprentices.

Beere Electrical Services has an interactive approach to carrying out work, as Robert Beere, Managing Director, explains: “We don’t want robots, we want staff who can think for themselves whose opinion is asked for and valued from day one. Whilst the answers may be off-the-wall initially it is important that the thinking process is engaged from the outset.”

Self-discipline is nurtured in the apprentices through presentation and timekeeping and neat uniforms, clean vans, polished boots and punctual attendance are compulsory.

Robert Beere insists on the whole team being involved in an active training programme, and as such, four of the nine-strong team are currently in full training, three of the nine are at night school, and five of the nine are booked in with colleges for evening classes. This passion for continual improvement forms a key part of their business strategy and all team members are rewarded financially when they advance with their training.

As a result, the company hasn’t lost a single member of staff in three and a half years and Beere’s sickness record is less than a quarter day per member of staff per year.
