Employer of the Year Award
(1-9 employees)
Club House Catering
Club House Catering is a small company based in Cumbria, which currently employs seven staff, including two apprentices. Chris Booth, the Club Steward, has been actively involved in Apprenticeships for five years, providing structured support to all learners and ensuring that ample time is made available for study, assessments and external courses.
Apprenticeships have bought many benefits to Club House Catering including a more motivated workforce with minimal sick days and increased productivity. Apprentices are encouraged to look at working practices and offer suggestions as to how they can be improved, for example, the apprentices produced an A-Z reference manual which has helped to develop staff both personally and occupationally.
Apprenticeships are not only providing Club House Catering with excellent industry knowledge, but also ensuring their employees are compliant with current industry legislation. All apprentices have completed training for Food Hygiene, Health and Safety and BII, giving them the necessary knowledge and confidence to work in a safe and clean environment.
This rounded approach has increased not only the motivation of the apprentices, but their confidence also, resulting in happier, more productive staff with excellent product knowledge and customer service skills.
Chris Booth explains: “Our Company provides an excellent platform for learners to develop and harness their skills. Through Apprenticeships, our staff have increased the quality of our products and increased turnover by approximately 20%.”
