Have you had to show extra commitment and determination in working towards your learning goals?

Do you feel you have gone that extra mile? Perhaps you have struggled with written work, personal set backs or coped with ill-health?

Whatever the barriers, we want to hear your story and you will be in with a chance to win a prestigious national award.

The Apprenticeship Awards 2008 are looking to reward individuals who are exceeding their employers’ or learning providers’ expectations by achieving success while dealing with difficulties on a personal or work level while working towards their Apprenticeship.

Who should enter?

Apprentices must be working towards, or have completed, an Apprenticeship or an Advanced Apprenticeship. All applicants must have been in been in Learning and Skills Council funded in April 2005 or started their Apprenticeship since April 2005.

What makes a winner?

The Personal Achiever of the Year Award seek to acknowledge and celebrate apprentices who have successfully overcome barriers or obstacles, personally or in the workplace, to achieve their goals and exceed all expectations.

Judges are looking for inspirational stories of apprentices' exceptional achievements. In particular, entrants that demonstrate the following:

  • Commitment to their own personal development and progression through learning
  • Ability to overcome obstacles and barriers in learning or at work
  • Inspirational qualities.

Winners will enjoy:

  • 'Personal Achiever of the Year' status
  • Recognition for your hard work through regional and national publicity
  • Up to £1000 worth of prizes for the winner
  • £500 for the two Highly Commended entrants
  • Invites for you and your family to attend an Oscar-style celebratory Awards ceremony at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London on the evening of 10th July 2008
