Logistics Operations Management

Logistics 7

The ultimate goal of any logistics operation is to move a product from supplier to customer – this path is called the supply chain, and it needs to keep moving in order for goods to arrive at the right place, at the right time. Logistics managers play an important role in all of this, liaising with a range of people including suppliers, manufacturers, retailers and consumers.

On this Advanced Level Apprenticeship, you’ll hold a management role for a logistics company. As an apprentice, your duties may involve transportation, stock control, warehousing, and/or monitoring the flow of goods and materials. You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of things and making sure that quality, cost and efficiency of the supply chain meets standards.

You’ll learn a range of skills, which could include monitoring stock and keep records; managing the receipt, storage or dispatch of goods; developing relationships with customers and suppliers; and providing leadership for your team.

For this role, you’ll need strong organisation skills and a flair for leadership. You’ll also need to be able to think on your feet and make quick decisions. This is an Advanced Apprenticeship, so a Level 2 qualification in a Logistics occupation or equivalent experience is essential.
