Engineering Manufacture (Senior Technician)
This Higher Apprenticeship gives apprentices the option to take a Foundation Degree (or HNC, HND) that could lead to a full honours degree and professional qualification as an incorporated engineer. This high-quality programme of engineering training is designed for talented apprentices who have completed an Advanced Level Apprenticeship, or hold equivalent qualifications.
The Higher Engineering Apprenticeship can be applied across a range of sectors, from aerospace and automotive to electrical and electronics. As a higher apprentice, you’ll work towards achieving engineering technician or incorporated engineer status in your field of specialisation. You’ll learn a range of advanced skills and complete a Level 4 NVQ in Engineering Leadership. You’ll also take a relevant HNC, HND, or Foundation Degree, which could lead to progression to an Honours degree in Engineering Technology. In addition to technical skills, you’ll learn how to write reports, use IT and work effectively in a team.
For example you could work as a Systems Engineer, designing, assembling and testing avionic integrated systems, programmes and components. Or you could work as a Design Engineer, designing, testing, and supervising the manufacture of aircraft, spacecraft, and missiles.
