Building Energy Management Systems

A Building Energy Management Systems are computer-based control systems installed in buildings that control and monitor the building’s mechanical and electrical equipment such as ventilation, lighting, power systems, fire systems, and security systems.

The systems are most common in a large building where its core function is to manage the environment within the building including temperature, carbon dioxide levels and humidity.

On This Advanced Level Apprenticeship you could work in three areas; commissioning, installation or maintenance.

As a Building Energy Management Systems Commissioning Technician you will be responsible for the commissioning of building energy management systems in accordance with a particular design and specification to ensure system functionality post installation.

As a Building Energy Management Systems Installation Technician you would be responsible for ensuring the energy management system is installed safely, technically correct and efficient.

Finally, you could work as a Building Energy Management Systems Maintenance Technician, looking after the servicing of building energy management systems, ensuring the system continues being safe, technically correct and efficient.
