Fundraising
Fundraising is absolutely critical to charities and voluntary organisations. Charities need funding in order to operate – to pay for staff, premises, equipment, websites etc. Having paid staff with good fundraising skills makes the difference between a charity being able to help or not – it’s at the heart of everything these organisations do. Fundraisers also work in education and health organisations.
Being in paid employment in a fundraising role is about building and managing relationships with people and organisations that have money to support your organisation’s work and the people it helps.
A fundraiser shows how the funder’s money will benefit the people and the causes that their charity supports. Funders might be individuals, businesses, trusts and foundations, local authorities or the Government.
This Advanced level Apprenticeship will give you skills to be an effective fundraiser – developing and implementing fundraising plans, and monitoring and sustaining relationships with donors. In addition, you can specialise in at least two fundraising areas: local and community fundraising, fundraising events, raising money through large donations, applying for funding grants, fundraising through working with businesses, raising funds through using e-media and using mail to attract donors.
