The Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Photo Imaging is designed to give apprentices the skills to work in the Photo Imaging industry, either as a photographer or in digital image production, photo retail or picture libraries.

This Advanced Level Apprenticeship offers a range of different units, giving your employers the flexibility to tailor your on-the-job learning to the job role they give you.

Examples of what you might learn in these units include: agreeing photo imaging briefs, undertaking photographic assignments, colour management procedures, using minilab equipment, technical adjustment of images, image cataloguing and freelance working.

You’ll also learn about the legal and ethical requirements relating to photo imaging as well as gaining important skills useful in any job, such as communication, teamwork, and health and safety. This is all part of helping you become a well-rounded employee, with the knowledge, skills and experience that employers will want you to have.

A typical job could be as a trainee photographer with a company offering schools, wedding and portrait, or event photography. Other roles for apprentices include minilab printer, trainee digital imaging technician and picture library keyworder.
