Digital and Creative Media Apprenticeship Launch at Apple HQ, London
25 June 2010
On 24 June employers from across the media sector gathered for the launch of the Digital & Creative Media Apprenticeship.
Employers from Apple, BBC, Channel 4, BT, Barbican Centre, and International TV Channel amongst others attended the event to find out how Apprenticeships could be good for their business. The new Apprenticeship was pioneered by the BBC, who took on ten Digital & Creative Media apprentices earlier this year. Over 700 people applied for the posts so the calibre of this first cohort is extremely high.
Designed in response to the need for technical skills growth within the media industry, the Digital and Creative Media Apprenticeship will guarantee hands on experience and practical expertise. The media industry is an extremely attractive career option for many people, renowned for being difficult to get into. To date, it has largely been the preserve of graduates. As with all 16-18 year old Apprenticeship training, Government pays 100% of the learning costs, so these new digital and media Apprenticeships are an excellent way for young people to take their first steps in the industry.
