Training Managers needed for WorldSkills 2013

Can you train the UK’s most highly skilled young people for WorldSkills Leipzig 2013?

At WorldSkills London 2011, Team UK secured its best ever performance in the 53 year history of the international WorldSkills Competition. Our competitors won five gold, two silver and six bronze medals in skills ranging from Cooking, Plumbing, Bricklaying to Autobody Repair, Welding and Landscape Gardening. The team also won twelve Medallions for Excellence.

WorldSkills UK 2011 - Team Managers


Our plan is to do even better at WorldSkills Leipzig 2013 and we need your help to train the UK’s competitors and ensure they are ready to compete against their peers from over 50 Countries/regions.

We are seeking Training Managers / WorldSkills Experts in the following skills areas:

  • Autobody Repair
  • Cabinet Making
  • Car Painting
  • Construction Metal Work
  • Electronics
  • Fashion Technology
  • Graphic Design Technology
  • Information Network Cabling
  • IT Network Systems Administration
  • Jewellery
  • Joinery
  • Polymechanics
  • Restaurant Service
  • Robotics
  • Sheet Metal Technology
  • Web Design

WorldSkills UK 2011 - Team Managers


We need training managers/WorldSkills experts who:

  • have outstanding expertise in specific vocational skills
  • have experience of exceptional performance together with the skills to train and support talented young people to achieve excellence
  • have demonstrated knowledge of international standards and practices in particular skills, gained within a range  of vocational and occupational settings
  • are willing and able to offer at least 50 days of commitment (including some evenings and weekends) over the next  two years. This role does not offer a salary but out of pocket expenses are covered.

As a volunteer training manager/WorldSkills expert you will:

  • train and prepare potential competitors for the 2013 WorldSkills Competition
  • participate in the Competition as a designated expert for the UK
  • contribute to the UK’s international standing for world class standards.
