Eleanor says “The apprenticeship scheme for Delta is fundamental to Delta’s success. Employees of all ages can come into the business, can want to do an apprenticeship, can want to get more skills, can want to want to further themselves and the business and we are more than happy to invest in that. We try to take on approximately 3-4 apprentices every year. In the office we do look for apprenticeship schemes in administration and engineering.” We see an employee going up the outside of a cooling tower in a small lift. “It really instills in the culture of Delta something that money can’t buy. Everyone works as a team, everyone’s proud of Delta, because of the skills and the learning that we continue.”
Alan is seen working with colleagues in the construction area
Alan says “I was doing warehouse work when I left school, I could see myself still in a warehouse now. So I’m glad I did take the apprenticeship on. If you ask me again today if I’d go back and do another 3 years I definitely would.”
Eleanor says “Retention rates in Delta are fantastic; many of our top senior supervisors and top foreman on site have been through Delta’s apprenticeship scheme.” We see an employee climbing up the outside of an industrial chimney. “They stay with us for a long time. “
Alan says “I do think I’ve got a career now. I definitely recommend an apprenticeship to anybody.”
Eleanor says “We at Delta know that we are committed to the apprenticeship scheme” We see the employees working at the very top of the industrial chimney “but it would be lovely to win this award, just to give recognition to all the employees who have contributed to the apprenticeship scheme and have made the business a success.”
