Dave is carrying a box through the warehouse out onto the shop floor.
Damien says “When I first meet Dave he was doing 20 hours a week, he was putting the stock away on the shelf and he was going home, he didn’t really take a lot more interest in the job.” Dave and a colleague are seen tidying up a picnic table on display “Since he started the apprenticeship his commitment to the job and his enthusiasm has just grown massively.”
Dave is talking as customers shop behind him, we also see him serving customers.
Dave says “I’ve really enjoyed it; I found that I was learning a lot, I started to get more interested in my job, asking for more hours, doing more overtime, learning more things about not just my job, but the business as a whole.”
Damien says “The apprenticeship had just given him so much more knowledge and confidence in his own ability. He’s virtually a different person.”
Dave says “I find it really satisfying that people are starting to take me more seriously.”

Damien says “His commitment to the job has grown enormously.”
Dave says “The more in depth learning I was doing at work, the more interesting I found myself. The more I started questioning the procedures we already have and adapting them, then introducing new procedures and receiving better results.”
Damien says “He’s acted as a role model. We’ve now got five people on the apprenticeship. And that was directly down to Dave’s success story that he’s had.”
Dave says “It’s okay learning for yourself and bettering yourself as a person but if you’re not sharing that experience with anybody else then it’s wasted, and I think I’ve shared it with all my staff. it’s helped drive my team on ten-fold and now we’ve got some of the best results coming out of here in years. Not just in the stock room but on the shop floor.”
