Steps to make it happen

The next step is to discuss your exact training requirements with an Apprenticeship representative.

So, if you are ready to take on apprentices visit complete our online enquiry form or alternatively you can call our employer helpline on 08000 150 600.

You will got through the following steps;

  • Step 2 - We will help you identify a suitable training provider.
  • Step 3 - You confirm the number of current employees and new recruits you want to start an Apprenticeship.
  • Step 4 - Start the recruitment process. Vacancies are advertised on Apprenticeship vacancies (see below), where suitable applicants can apply.
  • Step 5 - You choose your ideal candidates and then your apprentices start.

Can't afford to take on apprentices?

Over the last year the NAS has been working with a number of Apprenticeship Training Agencies (ATAs) to help develop a new approach to supporting employers who wish to recruit apprentices.

ATAs offer a unique approach to the recruitment of apprentices. They are specifically designed to support employers who wish to take on an apprentice but are unable to in the current economic climate. In particular they can support employers whose order book will not currently allow them to commit to employing an apprentice for the full period of the Apprenticeship, but know that they will need fully trained employees when the economy picks up.

What employers say...

“I am a great believer in running effective, long term Apprenticeship schemes which have benefits not only for us but businesses across the country. As we know from working with the NAS, Apprenticeships increase company productivity and competitiveness and reduce staff turnover. Over the next 3 years we are investing £1m in our schemes with 20 % of our engineer workforce coming from Apprenticeships by 2013.”
