Training and development of staff is pivotal to the success of Rosy Apple Childcare, and it sees apprentices as vital to its success. Established five years ago, the company is committed to encouraging and promoting training for all its staff and has won many awards for staff development.
Its ‘stepping stone’ scheme for apprentices sets achievable goals for professional and personal development, which are regularly reviewed and rewarded with salary incentives. Many of the company’s apprentices have gone on to become junior managers in the rapidly expanding organisation, and it is now able to over almost 300 childcare places across Lancashire.
The company attributes this success to the training and development of staff and its commitment to training apprentices to NVQ level 2 and beyond. One apprentice who came to the organisation as a homeless teenage mum has since gone on to become a member of the senior management team and is testament to Rosy Apples’ commitment.
The company has benefited through its policies with a staff turnover rate of almost nil, keeping recruitment costs at a minimum and ensuring a harmonious work environment for both staff and children.
