Social media themes
Year on year, National Apprenticeship Week has generated an increasing amount of traffic to the NAS social media channels.
Last year the Week saw 175,000 hits on the Apprenticeships - 75,000 more than the year before and the number of Facebook visitors over the Week rose to 130,000, with 1,600 ‘likes’. The number of @Apprenticeships Twitter followers also rose to more than 3,000 – with Apprenticeships ‘trending’ (one of the top ten discussion items on Twitter), for the first time ever.
The high usage levels have been maintained and there are currently more than 7,500 Twitter followers for @apprenticeships and over 3,700 fans of the Apprenticeship Facebook page.
This daily social media themes for National Apprenticeship Week 2012 are detailed below:
6 February - We're with @Apprenticeships because …
NAS is collating material (quotes, case studies and video footage) from Apprenticeship employers and apprentices to explain why they are “with Apprenticeships” – describing the benefits and value that Apprenticeships have brought to the business/individual. These will be showcased on the Apprenticeships website and Apprenticeship social media channels. To submit content, complete the template form and email to theweek@apprenticeships.gov.uk and/or tweet your quotes or add them to the Apprenticeships facebook page.
7 February - 'I got my dream job through @Apprenticeships'
This is the opportunity for current and former apprentices who attribute pursing their dream career to their Apprenticeship to Tweet or chat on Facebook about it.
8 February - Say thank you @Apprenticeships
This is the chance for Apprenticeship employers and apprentices to say thank you to someone who has played a vital role in their Apprenticeship journey. Just ask them to Tweet their thanks on the day eg “Thank you ABC PROVIDER for my @APPRENTICESHIPS journey in e.g. plumbing”.
9 February - @Apprenticeships Hall of Fame
Did the Managing Director or Chief Executive of any the Apprenticeship employers you work with start their career as an apprentice? Or do you know an award winning former apprentice whose career has gone on to flourish? Or even a celebrity who started out as an apprentice? If so, they could be ideal candidates for the online Apprenticeships Hall of Fame, which will showcase the rise and accomplishments of England’s most successful apprentices.
A short biography and photo of the nominated individual are all that’s required. Just add them to the template form and e-mail to theweek@apprenticeships.gov.uk and/or tweet about them or add comments to the Apprenticeship Facebook page.
10 February - Get with @Apprenticeships because...
This is the opportunity for partners to showcase and highlight the success of their Apprenticeship Week activity via Twitter and Facebook and explain why others should get with Apprenticeships.
The NAS would like to encourage all partners supporting National Apprenticeship Week to promote their events and activities through its social media channels and also to showcase these afterwards by uploading photos and videos to our Facebook Fan Page. Alternatively email theweek@apprenticeships.gov.uk to find out other ways of submitting your photos and videos.
Also, if you have your own Facebook page please make sure you tag the Apprenticeships page so it can ‘like’ your activity and if you promote any activities on Twitter, please include the hash tag #NAW2012 so that @apprenticeships can pick it up and re-tweet as much as possible.
You can follow the National Apprenticeship Service on Twitter @apprenticeships, or join the Apprenticeships fan page on Facebook www.facebook.com/apprenticeships.
